Typically,

External piles (perianal hematoma) occur on the outside edge of the
anus. The internal ones are much more common.

Types of Hemorrhoids or (Piles)
There are two types of hemorrhoids, namely Internal and External hemorrhoids
Internal hemorrhoids are located above the pectinate line and are covered with cells that are the same as those that line the rest of the intestines
Internal hemorrhoids: are classified into four different grades:
Grade 1 - there are small inflammations, usually inside the lining of the anus. They are not visible
Grade 2 - larger than grade 1 hemorrhoids, but also inside the anus. When passing a stool, they may get pushed out, but return unaided
Grade 3 - often called 'prolapsed hemorrhoids'; these appear outside the anus. The patient may feel them hanging out. They can be pushed back in if the patient presses with their finger

Usually diagnosis of external hemorrhoids or piles is carried out by carrying out a physical examination of the patient's anus.

What Are the Available Treatments for Piles
In the
majority of cases of piles, treatments can help significantly reduce the
discomfort and itching that many patients experience.

Piles can be caused by too much straining when doing bowel movements,
which is the result of constipation. A change in diet can help keep the

- Banding involves placing a very tight elastic band around the base of

and most people can get back to their normal activities the next day.
Sclerotherapy
- During sclerotherapy, a chemical solution is injected into the blood
vessels in your back passage. This relieves pain by numbing the nerve
endings at the site of the injection. It also hardens the tissue of the
hemorrhoid so a scar is formed. After about four to six weeks, the
hemorrhoid should decrease in size or shrivel up
Infrared coagulation - During the procedure, a device called a proctoscope is inserted into the anus to locate the hemorrhoid.
An electric current is then passed through a small metal probe placed
at the base of the hemorrhoid, above the dentate line. The specialist
can control the electric current using controls attached to the probe.
The aim of electrotherapy is to cause the blood supplying the hemorrhoid
to thicken, which shrinks it.

There are many different surgical procedures for piles. The main types of operation are described below.
1. Haemorrhoidal Artery Ligation
Haemorrhoidal
artery ligation is an operation to reduce the blood flow to your

involves inserting a small ultrasound probe into your anus. The probe
produces high-frequency sound waves that allow the surgeon to locate the
